The Weekend is Over Blues

Well dang, here we are, 1/19/2009 and the weekend has come and gone. It was a good weekend though. My brother and I and one other of our friends played basketball on Saturday, during which I injured my butt after falling on it trying to stuff my brothers shot. Definitely more of a pride wound there cause he still made the shot.

For most of Sunday afternoon Seth and I practiced our golf swings, our latest endeavor together. We both still suck but it's a blast to play. We're going to invest is some practice equipment here soon to continue our improvements. Seth said we just need to 'Turn down the suck knob'.

Recently my gaming system broke, it still plays movies and does everything else, but it won't play games. I realized this weekend, that's a good thing. I did not spend countless hours wasting my time on something that is really, truly, useless. I accomplish nothing when play video games and I believe it is time for that era of my life to close. I have more important and entertaining things to do with my life. I would much rather interact with my wife and child or family and outdoors than stare at a TV's screen for more time than I really need to.

I also got a letter Saturday from a the medical company that did Christi's ultrasounds saying that if I didn't pay them their $50 they were going to sick a collections agency on me. I actually had to think about this for a minute. I really, really did not want to pay them and almost opted not to for the chance and getting into a heated argument with a collections rep, in which I would cuss him out good. But, I chose the path of peace - if only to spare the poor rep - and sent them my CC info for charging. Grrrrr!

Well, guess it's time to go back to work now. Hope everyone had a good weekend and has a great week.

Reconnection: Part 1

Here are some more logical descriptions for you:

Air: "A mixture of nitrogen, oxygen, and minute amounts of other gases that surrounds the earth and forms its atmosphere."

Fire: "A state, process, or instance of combustion in which fuel or other material is ignited and combined with oxygen, giving off light, heat, and flame."

Water: "A transparent, odorless, tasteless liquid, a compound of hydrogen and oxygen, H2O, freezing at 32°F or 0°C and boiling at 212°F or 100°C, that in a more or less impure state constitutes rain, oceans, lakes, rivers, etc.: it contains 11.188 percent hydrogen and 88.812 percent oxygen, by weight."

Earth: "Soil and dirt, as distinguished from rock and sand; the softer part of the land."

Now, all of you being smart people know what this stuff is. You say to yourself "OK this is getting redundant, we don't need the explanations of this stuff.", but bear with me, it has a purpose.
Above you have yet another perfect example of man trying to explain it all away. We know what it is, how it works, how it works with other things, we know everything there is about it.

Great for you, here is my problem though, do you really? In 1774 and man named Joseph Priestly discovered Oxygen. It has a part in all of the Elements; you can find the stuff everywhere. If you ask a human what Oxygen is, most very smart people will tell you it's a combination of Photons, Neurons and atoms, then molecules and the list goes on. Think about this though, did GOD call it 'Oxygen', probably not; he knew we would need it, so he put it here. That is the kind of thinking that will reconnect us to the magic around us.

"Oh this is this type of tree, and it has this chemical makeup and uses photosynthesis." Blah, blah, blah. Why not just accept that it's a tree, one of GOD's most magnificent creations. It's here, it grows, it's beautiful and it has its place. What we know through science has certainly increased quality of life on a higher level. I will not discredit that scientific discoveries have changed life for the better.
I am not asking anyone to go back to the Dark Ages and endure diseases that have been quashed by science. I simply request a different point of view. For some time each day, throw away your logical processes and your immediate senses. Find your inner sense, the sixth sense, the one that is there and screaming to be let out. Let it feel the magic around you, soak in the energies, let them flow through you.
I know many of you study meditation and practice it, if you don't, look into it. Specifically Chakras, it sounds like physco-bable at first if you let your logical side take over. I have been studying them for a while now and I think the Hindu's were really on to something there. Admittedly I don't practice as much as I should, but I am working towards that. Seeing your body as a vessel that allows the energy of the Universe to flow through you really brings about some interesting changes.
For specific example, one of the Chakras is the Heart Chakra. This Chakra is what you would think, it's about love, kindness, and compassion. This was one of my closed Chakras. I really had a hard time feeling anything for most people and hated the thought of showing emotion. So using the proper techniques, I set out to open this Chakra. And when I did, something odd changed, and now, months later, I become a blubber ball when watching emotional movies with my wife or when my daughter looks at me with so much love I can hardly look at her. It may or may not work for you but if want to learn more, check here: http://www.eclecticenergies.com/chakras/

Back to my point, SIMPLICITY and BALANCE are major keys to this journey. You cannot understand the Deep Magic if you place yourself on a pedestal above it. You must understand how you fit into the puzzle and know that it is your place. Once we do that, we won't have to worry about the 'Shoulda, coulda, woulda's'. We simply know who we are and where we belong, and we are content to be there. GOD made us specific to our place, and who doesn't want to be where you belong is this amazing place that HE created for us.

Beginnings

Magic, according to Dictionary.com is:

"The art of producing a desired effect or result through the use of incantation or various other techniques that presumably assure human control of supernatural agencies or the forces of nature."

This description I believe, leads us to our first clues on why humans - especially is Western culture - have written of the importance of this power. It is described by most as impossible, ridiculous and by most, evil. In my experiences with life, love, God (whoever He may be to you) and history, I have created a theory, a theory that something is missing in our connection to God. This thing is primal, yet powerful, subtle, but capable of things so terrifying; you'd better hope your beliefs are really what you believe.
Let's go back to the beginning, way back, when GOD; and no not limited to the Father of the Son Jesus Christ, but Buddha, Allah, etc. GOD is too much to be contained to a title, He is to a Christian as He is to Islam believer, the Supreme Being who rules the universe. Your beliefs may vary, but the nature of what GOD is remains the same.
But I'm getting off point, in every religion, GOD created the universe, the first Deep Magic. Some would argue that GOD did not need such a finite thing, He's GOD, and He’s above magic. I simply, disagree, GOD wrote the first magic when He created this place we know as Earth, Solar System, and Universe. He passed this along to us. The Bible does not speak much of Adam and what he did, but I believe he was a very powerful being and that he was not human as we think of it until he fell.
During this fall, our Magic was diminshed, GOD knew we could not handle it. The things we would have done with it would have been atrocious. Instead He left us enough to stay in contact with Him and to us it for our benefit.
Now this is much further up the timeline, but stay with me. I have a question, one that has been in my mind for months know. "What did we destroy when we wiped out the Native Americans?" Did we murder senselessly for things that we wanted, YES! Did we take what was not rightfully ours, YES! Did we destroy one of the last civilizations to understand to true importance of magic and how it connects us to GOD and the other planes, YES! And has anyone looked back on history, discovered this, shared it with the world and has the world benefited from it, have to say, NO!
The Native Americans believed in the Great Spirit, and that he connected them to nature, ancestors, and most importantly themselves and others around them. It was a means of healing, socializing, and surviving! Without their magic the very core of the civilization would have unraveled.
And this is why I believe ours is; we are failing because we no longer know magic. And not in the sense that you can bend fire or pull a rabbit out of your hat; but the sense of truly understanding the utter, raw, power that is around you. Father GOD, Mother Nature, ancestors, family, friends. We are all connected by unseen strings that hold everything together. We have simply lost the ability to touch those strings and see where they lead.
This is Deep Magic, it courses through us daily, yet our surface scraping lives force us to ignore it, or not feel it at all. Logic, rules, disbelief all rule our culture. These have a place, but they are nothing compared to chaos. Chaos accepts nothing as it is, and when things change, it shifts to adapt. GOD's universe is Chaos. That is why humans can never quite figure it out; it does not follow rules and regulations like we do. It is ever changing, when you think it's 'This way' if shifts and goes 'That way'.
I will stop here because there is too much inside my head to put down and have it make sense. Partly because it doesn't make sense to me yet, it may never. All I know is that I am tired of scraping the surface, I've been digging for 21 years and I think I just now can start to see the water below the ice.

So next time your outside, put your hand on a tree, I swear you'll feel it breathing. Deep Magic.

I hope you all continue this conversation, I'm eager to hear opinions; agree or disagree. I also believe it's truly imperative we re-learn magic to understand our lives more fully. And dumb as we are sometimes, humans come up with some amazing stuff when their minds come together.

Thank you for reading and following along in my journey, hope it doesn't get boring :D
